What a great way to end a day of polling booths and large white forms. A meal with friends, old and new, a few drinks topped off by an absolutely wonderful movie filled with fantastic music.
I don't think I was alone singing along with each song played. Heartwarming and heart-wrenching, uplifting and incredibly sad.
Thank you to everyone who assisted on the night, and a special thank you to Annette and Paul Fisher who were paramount in the success of the evening. Catering for 40 odd people is never easy, and our new lessee Amidia was very lucky to have their guidance and expertise.
A Sad Farewell to a Lovely Lady
It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to one of our members. Trudy James passed away suddenly late Friday evening leaving behind her husband Larrie James, and their three children, Brant, Brooke and Kelly.
Many of you met Trudy as she attended most of our movie nights. She was a bright and bubbly petite lady. Trudy was a great friend to me and she will be sadly missed by so many in our local community.
She was an active member of the Lions Club, running the chip or steak van, doing the Chocolate Wheel at the Pub or performing any other duties they allocated to her. She volunteered at the library and sold the raffle tickets at the Club on Friday nights.
Trudy only lived in town for just over two and half years, but she certainly made an impact.
May you Rest in Peace Trudy.
The two eight two eight Committee and the community of Gulargambone, would like to extend a very warm welcome to Amidia Diamond as our new lessee of the 2828 Café.
Amidia is no stranger to the café as she worked for our previous tenant, Craig Holmgreen. Amidia will bring her past experience and install her own style and flair to the café.
Please join us at our Dinner and Movie Night on Saturday May 18th, screening "Bohemian Rhapsody", and help welcome Amidia and her staff to our town.
The two eight two eight Committee is planning on opening the two eight two eight Café whilst it is waiting for a new lessee.
It will be run by volunteers and will be opening this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It will be a simple affair of light meals, cakes and tea and coffee - Vittoria of course!
Please check our Facebook page two eight two eight cafe to check opening hours.
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who attended our movie night last Saturday. Without our patrons, there is no movie night. So thank you.
Secondly, I would like to thank members of the two eight two eight Committee, who all jumped in to help make this night happen. Thank you Paul Fisher, Kirsty Fisher, Sara Roche, Alison Tancred and a special thank you to young Sophie Roche.
Our guests were treated to Thai Green Chicken Curry and Beef Bourguignon, both served with rice. For dessert, it was Drumsticks and Weis Bars. Everyone enjoyed their meal, some going back for seconds.
The movie was all it was acclaimed to be, and I think everyone understood why it won the awards it did. Lady Gaga was exceptional in her role as Ally, and her voice was amazing. Gaga fan or not, you can't deny she totally embodied the role. Bradley Cooper, who played Jackson Maine, what a talent. To star in and direct this movie was incredible.
The movie was feel good, enlightening and heartbreaking. Everything a good movie should be.
Thank you again to one and all for making the evening special.
I would like to thank everyone for their support of the two eight two eight Film Society over the past year.
We have seen some wonderful movies, and a few left of centre. But each night has been enjoyable none the less.
Thank you to Craig and Bevan for providing the majority of the meals over the past year, and thank you to also to our "Guest" cooks, Annette and Paul Fisher. We couldn't have done it without you.
Movie Memberships are due again for 2019. The cost remains the same at $20 Single and $40 Family Membership. Out of town Guests will be charged $10 per attendance (plus the cost of the meal of course).
I hope you can all join us, and perhaps take up membership if you haven't joined us before, for the next twelve months of dinners and movies.
Our first movie for the year will be "A Star is Born" 2018 edition starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. By all accounts it is a terrific movie, and who doesn't love a musical/love story/drama. Got it all!
Look forward to seeing you all there - Don't forget to book for dinner.

Well, what a wonderful movie. Thank you to all who voted, you chose extremely well. And what a terrific turnout. We had over forty people in attendance.
It was entertaining, informative, witty and uplifting. It is one of those movies which can take you to so many places and have multiple emotional effects on you all at the same time.
Thank you to Craig and his team for jumping in and cooking for us. Sadly, Annette and Paul had a loss in the family and we offer our condolences.
We had garlic prawn or minted lamb skewers with chips and salad. Vanilla slice and fruit slice were on offer for dessert.
As you all did such a marvellous job choosing our movie, I will be sending out the latest new releases for you choose from for the September movie.
Thank you to everyone for making it a lovely evening.
two eight two eight's Annual General Meeting will be held Monday 10th September at 5pm at 2828 Café and Gallery.
All are welcome.
New Committee nominations welcome.
