An intimate evening with Martyn Wyndham Read and friends. Who could ask for more?
The evening started with old friends and strangers mingling and clinking their glasses. Our guests for dinner included Ian and Jenny MacDougall, Don Denness, Louise Brookes, Sally and Luke Nalder, Peter Clonan, Veronica and Paul Underwood, and Peter Coulson (all the way from Lightning Ridge). Sadly Jenny and Neil Anderson missed the concert due to illness.
Our guests then sat down for a dinner of scotch fillet, potato salad and a fresh green salad, cooked and served by Colleen and Paul Ower. Just right for the warm evening.
More guests arrived with David Frazier from the Gulargambone Caravan Park and we were ready to begin our night of entertainment.
The concert started with Don Denness and Ian MacDougall performing together, one on the acoustic guitar, the other on the mandolin. And what beautiful music they made.
A short interlude and Martyn began to strut his stuff. A mixture of poetry and prose, stories and of course, his wonderful music and melodic voice.
While Martyn had a short break, our guests were treated to a fresh batch of hot scones with butter and jam and there were coffee orders all round.
Refreshed and ready to go, Martyn completed another set and ended the evening with "Jackaroo".
On behalf of everyone at the concert, I would like to thank Jenny MacDougall for organising the evening and special thanks to Martyn for wanting to play again at two eight two eight.
Thanks also goes to Louise Brookes who has taken some lovely photos and you will find posted in our gallery.
